What are you’re favorite etudes for developing bow technique?

May I add to the list a little-known book by Robert Jacoby, Weymouth U.K., who was a well respected teacher in the south of England. Titled ‘Violin Technique – A practical analysis for performers’ he is the only person I know who has been brave enough to describe both in modern language and with excellent manuscript examples, all the bow strokes that are given (usually) Italian names. A real eye-opener. Printed by Novello in 1985 it is now sadly out of print, but of course secondhand copies should be available. A must for every serious player’s bookshelf, and far better than endless ‘study’ repeats.
